Berlin

I spend the month in Berlin, so not a lot of updates lately. I have to say, lovely city! Great food, awesome parties, lovely people, like it a lot... I took some photos at the now defunct Tempelhof Airport. I found the whole complex irresistably fascinating. Its sheer vastness, historic importance and wonderful desertedness kept me coming back...

 

Roffa 5314

Two years ago I worked on a project for the historical museum of Rotterdam, called Roffa 5314, on youthculture on the southside of Rotterdam. At the end of this year a book will be published on the project, containing a lot of the photos I took. I was asked to make a photo for the cover...

Elections 2010

Electionday in the Netherlands. It was a long day; covered al lot aspects of the voting process today and over the last couple of weeks. Tonight a presentation of my photos was shown during the announcement of the results by mayor Aboutaleb. Here's a few shots of the counting of the votes (Which, amazingly enough, still happens in a very oldschool fashion; by hand!!)

I usually don't care an awful lot about material stuff, but damn was I in love with my '76 oldtimer Mercedes. So I have to admit I was really heartbroken to see her go this afternoon.. There was just too much rust on some vital parts on the bottom to get the car passed the vehicle testing regulations... Hope the guy I sold her too will be able to give the car a well-deserved second life...

I'm covering a lot of things concerning the upcoming dutch elections. This morning mayor Aboutaleb send everyone who'll turn 18 on june 9th, day of the elections, a postcard inviting them to vote..

DJ'ed at 't Paard yesterday and I was interviewed for the http://www.2010lab.tv website, the online laboratory of the European Capital of Culture – RUHR.2010.

No updates on my weblog last week, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy. On the contrary...
I was really happy to do a fashionshoot this weekend. I had a great time and I'd really love to do more of those... I'll post some of the results soon. Furthermore, I'm one of the official partners of the TEDx event in Rotterdam next month. And I've been asked by the Stage Europe Network to coach a young band on several upcoming tours. So I'm looking forward to some trips to France, Iceland, Germany etc. this year.. I've been doing a lot of commissioned shoots last two weeks for the city of Rotterdam in preparation for the upcoming elections as well, did a photoshoot with an old friend from highschool, took some photos at a party, build a website for two friends and I'm making music again; rehearsed with a new project for the the first time tonight..

Started a new project for the city of Rotterdam today. And this was also the first day for intern/assistent Sabine. We scouted some locations in the nearby forest...

Covered Bevrijdingsfestival in Rotterdam yesterday for the organisation. This is Drive Like Maria..
Tomorrow I'll be spinning some records at 3voor12's 5 year anniversary at Watt in Rotterdam. And on saturday I'll be in The Hague spinning some more at the Asteroid Galaxy Tour show at 't Paard.. Come have a beer!

Strange Fruit is not only the title of this haunting song by Billie Holiday, but it's also the name DJ's Thelonious and Lucky Dubz have used to organise all kinds of events in Rotterdam over the past five years. Took their picture for an article in the upcoming NL10...

Caro Emerald has been taking Holland by storm. Her record went platinum in no-time and she's been topping the charts for weeks on end now, breaking record after record. So I was honored she still had some time to do a quick shoot with me in Rotterdam this weekend..

These pretty guys are Elvin, Gijs, Tom and Lloyd of 'Hunting the Robot'.. They're all 17 except for drummer Lloyd who's 13.. You might haven't heard of them yet, but I'm pretty sure within a year or euhm.. two they'll be huge and play all your favourite festivals, DWDD etc...

Covered the GPZH finals this weekend @ Watt, Rotterdam... These are the winners; G.O.T.V.;
